KCON NY took over the Prudential Center a few
weeks back, and we are still recuperating from the excitement of the Korean
festival that celebrates KPOP, KBeauty and Korean Culture. Lights, Camera,
Asia's Whitney was there on the second day of the madness and is here to
highlight the fun that ensued.
Even though the sun was beating down on the ever
growing crowd surrounding the event, that didn't stop festival goers from
breaking out in dance when their favorite KPOP song came on (a crowd favorite:
BTS-Fire)
Booths lined the streets inviting attendees to
play games for free swag. My favorite was the Shin Ramen booth that had people
stacking ramen noodle cups under a time constraint. If they did it successfully
they won an adorable bag I believed to be filled with goodies. Other booths
catered to Beauty products or original merchandise, while other were packed
with KPOP merchandise including t-shirts, posters, jewelry, and even stuffed
animals resembling singers. I made sure to pick up an original hat sporting a ₩ (Korean Currency) so while it resembles Korean culture, for
those who don't know that they may think it is just a cool designed W for ₩hitney.
A stage at the end of the booths showcased dance
competitions, performances from local singers and even traditional Korean Dance
performances. The stage wasn't the only place that held performances though. If
a booth was playing any sort of Korean pop music, you could bet that someone
would start dancing and small crowds would form watching the talented visitors.
If you got too tired from dancing, you could easily hop over to the food truck
section that feature Korean food and bubble tea! KCON SATURDAY CONCERT
The most important part of KCON, however, is the
concert. The Saturday show featured artists, Mamamoo, Eric Nam, Day 6 and BTS.
The theatre was packed as singers Ailee and BTS' Rap Monster took the stage as
hosts. If you missed out on the show, check out the photos and videos below of some of
the performances!

Mamamoo- Um Oh Ah Yeh- 음오아예
Mamamoo- You're the Best (넌 is 뭔들)

In the end, if you have yet to go to KCON, make
sure you find a way to attend the NY or LA festivals. This is an event you do
not want to miss if you love all things related to the Korean Hallyu!
