Seoul Searching NYC Premiere

We are back on Lights, Camera, Asia and will hopefully start back to our regular posting schedule. We are so sorry we have been absent momentarily, but today we bring you an exciting post on the New York City Premiere of the heart-warming, comedy Seoul Searching (2015) directed by Benson Lee. If you have been following our site, you may have seen a previous review on this film, however, if not, check it out HERE!

Lights, Camera, Asia's Whitney was lucky enough to be able to not only attend the premiere and after party, but also be able to help out with the event itself this past Friday, June 17, 2016. The event was held in the dead center of Time Square at AMC 25. With it's limited release, the film was only showing for a week, however, it did so well opening weekend that it has been extended to the end of June. So if you are a local of NYC, go check it out!
SO LET'S START

Whitney and the Cast of Seoul Searching
Premiering a week before the Los Angeles premiere (Friday, June 24), the NYC premiere kicked off with several showings that were, no pun intended, SEOULED out! The audiences response to the film was very favorable, as audience goers laughed out loud, and even shed a few tears before giving the film a standing ovation. Between showings, actors and actresses of the film surprised fans for an impromptu meet and greet. In attendance were Jessika Van (Grace Park), Esteban Ahn (Sergio Kim), Rosalina Lee (Kris Schultz), Sue Son (Sara Han), Nekhebet Kum Juch (Jackie Im) and Uatchet Jun Juch (Judy Im).

Q&A with Seoul Searching cast

Following the second showing of the evening, the cast gave audience goers the opportunity for a short Q&A session. Questions ranged from what designer they were wearing that night, to their favorite scenes in the film, to if there are many Koreans in Spain (Esteban Ahn is originally from Spain). We also learned that a certain dramatic fight scene was unintentionally shot in the rain. But hey, it made the scene that more memorable and funny. A little rain water never hurt nobody!

Seoul Searching After Party at Club Circle
The most exciting part of the premiere night was the after party, an 80's themed prom (watch the film, you will understand why) held at Club Circle. Party goers dawned outfits reminiscing Madonna, Run DMC and more! With the favorite hits of the 1980's blasting through the speakers, the after party included an amazing beat box performance, a dance off, and the crowning of Prom King and Queen.

The NYC premiere was such an exciting and fun event, and the Los Angeles one will probably be just as awesome! If you have yet to see the film, Seoul Searching will also be showing for a limited time in the below locations:
